For the grand opening of Dell World 2014, Willis Collaborative was tasked with producing a killer piece of content to hype up the crowd before Michael Dell took the stage.
Celebrating Dell’s unique Austin origins, Willis Collaborative produced an opening video that riffed on the year’s most buzzworthy tech TV show, HBO’s comedy, Silicon Valley.
Dubbed “Silicon Hills”, Austin’s tech nickname, Willis Collaborative took cues from the unique style of the HBO show’s opening video, with its isometric, timelapse-like animation, to populate an abstract cityscape of Austin, complete with Austin landmarks such as the capitol building, Franklin’s BBQ, Alamo Drafthouse, HEB grocery store, and UT Austin with Bevo the bull, and Austin-based tech companies including AMD, Freescale Semiconductor, Indeed, and of course, Dell. The video was produced in an ultra-widescreen for the event, and paired with a dubstep track with a nod to country music.
